well we used it when my daughter had to make a volcano for the school science fair. It made a nice exploding volcano. we even colored it red for lava

Bi carb soda is NaHCO3 a basic substance and vinegar is CH3COOH acetic acid. When you add these two substances to eachother a neutralisation reaction occurs producing Carbon dioxide (CO2) a gas - hence the bubbles produced. Water (H2O)and a complex sodium salt are also produced from the remaining elements.

it is kinda confusing to describe in six year previous words (which may be why chemistry isnt taught at so youthful an age) after all, the the acid (vinegar/acetic acid) reacts with the backside(sodium bicarbonate) to offer water and carbon dioxide. on the grounds that carbon dioxide is a gas, the answer bubbles and fizzes by way of fact the CO2 leaves the answer
