I have this friend (mike) who I met about two months ago. He's the nicest person that I have ever met. He's my best firend. Recently, my firend Matt, who also happens to be really good friends with mike, told me that i should go out with mike. at first i thought matt was completely insane, and then i realized that maybe matt was right. it wouldn't be bad to go out with mike. so, i talked to mike about what matt had said to me, and mike said that matt had said the same thing to him. We just kinda left it at that. Recently, mike has invited me to go with him to every place that he goes. So, I asked matt to find out if he likes, and matt said that mike likes me as a friend, but Mike and i haven't talked one on one about us. What should I do? Does Mike like me? I want to go out with him, but I don't want to ruin our friendship...

Don't push too fast - after all, many great friendships have been ruined that way. You could talk to him about it though, just don't be upset if he says he wants to remain just friends. 2 months is really not that long of a time, and you really can not be sure that Matt is telling the total truth. Go places with Mike as you are doing, and gradually talk about it. You never know!

Keep him as a friend, because if you make this into a relationship and it doesn't work out, its rather difficult trying to be friends, after you were lovers or whatever comes of the relationship.
Besides friends often last longer than a relationship and friend are people you may be able to call and just say hi, years down the road. So, ride that friendship and turn when it turn, but at all cost, be real, caring and honest. It will be a relationship, but without the sex.
A friendship like this has more to offer and you will not be expecting anything, this way, for what ever reason you feel hurt, your friend is always there for you and a thanks is a much bigger reward to the friend, because knowing that you appreciate there concern and assistance, allows them to feel the reward and gives you the feeling that people do care.

Sounds like you are listening to a lot of secondhand information. Ask Mike for yourself and eliminate the middleman. Sounds like Matt is trying to play the both of you and maybe his intentions are not good at all.

I say go for it. It sounds familiar to the way my boyfriend and i were before we started goign out. He does like you and you should at least give it a try. The worst thing that can happen is him saying no right?? It sounds ridiculously familiar to the way my b/f and i were before and we just celebrated our two year anniversary...

You need to talk to each person face to face, and quit asking someone else. You are making things more complicated than need be.

Well the only thing I can say is the way to ruin your friendship is to hurt him.
