Buy in bulk, you'll have to cook, make many meals then freeze.
If you can get enough dough together for a few weeks, you can go to a sams club or costco (they can let you in with a free pass if you ask.) and buy ramen, dried beans, whole chickens, maybe tomato paste or whatever depending on what you want to make.
My first job out of college, I lived a week on $10. Though it was a while ago, it didn't buy a lot. But a crock pot will cook up a chicken with some rice or whatever and make a passable meal.
Hang in there!

oatmeal is good for breakfast, a loaf of bread for toast, the bread add peanut butter for sandwiches. Ramen works and costs about .15 a pack. Dried peas makes pea soup with some onions and carrots good, filling and cheap. A dozen eggs does not cost much and goes far. Pudding mixes, jiffy muffin mixes are very cheap.

If i only had $20 i think i would buy Milk & Cereal, bread, cheese, lunchmeat, ramen noodles, and if i had any money left over i'd buy a few tv dinners and a bag of chips. You can also buy pudding or jello for a dessert.

Get some beans and a ham bone or ham hock and make a big pot of soup. Get a bag of cornmeal and make cornbread to go with the soup. Other inexpensive soups are beef vegetable. (not canned soup)
For breakfast, stick with toast and butter and bananas. For lunch, get tomato and lettuce and whatever lunch meat is the cheapest to make sandwiches.
