First you have to decide on what meals you are going to make then you need to check what ingredents you have and will need or are out of . You write down what you need to buy at the store and Wala you have a gro. list

Do you mean a grocery list?
Well, grab a piece of paper and a pen, and write down everything you can think of that you need at home. Then, open the fridge and the cupboards to see what you forgot. Don't forget bathroom things too-- T.P? Toothpaste? Deodorant?

I must not understand your question, cuz this seems too obvious.

I do the same as April. I plan my shopping around menus, plus whatever foods we snack on and household supplies. I take inventory of any surplus items, and plan accordingly. I stick to my list, with the exception of buying sale items I find in the store. (I shop at a commissary, so as far as I know, there are no ads to help me plan for sales.) With careful planning, I have enough food and supplies for 15 days with little surplus.

Before I make a grocery list I make a meal list for the week.
Include all meals, snakcs, then make a list of all the groceries you need.
This way you don't over or under buy.

Once you have your pantry going, everytime you use something, write it down. I go shopping about 5 times a week. Just little stuff, but stuff I'm out of. I put it on post-it notes and put it on my wallet so I don't forget the next morning.

Picture yourself going through the grocery store and you're going to the first isle, do you need anything from it? If you are not sure, check. Do this with every isle. Then make sure that the other members of your household (If any), need anything else.
