anything under 5'4" is petite, 5'5" -5'7" is average and 5'8" and up is tall.

Petite usually has to do with your weight. If you are 17 and like 110 pounds you are petite but that's on average.
If you look like you could get snapped like a twig you're petite, but the lowest average weight of a girl at 5'5" is around 110.

as if the question was no simple enough-i agree with everyone else. typical "petite" means under 5'4". for someone that is 5'2"-"petite" length pants are too long. I have to buy "short" instead. Short pants are 1 1/2 inches shorter than petite. BUT-i can buy pants at the boys section at Sears-because I am short and skinny-hence-the real definition of petite. I have seen size 12 petite in stores-apparently-it only means shorter and not skinnier.

No, 5'4" is considered petite. I am 5'5" and if I try on any of that clothing, it is too short on my legs. You may get away w/ skirts and tops though.

when I think of petite, I think of height and body. If you have a slender figure I'd probably consider you petite.

height wise its average. but if you are very slender then you may be called petite just cuz your skinny. though usually petite would be like 4'9 ,5'1. 5'5 and 5'6 are average. and 5'8 is tall.

It's borderline. As far as clothing lines go, petite sizes usually fit someone who's around 5'2" or so.

WEll, no not really thats average , I would think 5'4 would end the petite line. But i'm 5'2, and I know thats petite.
