My husband and I are returning to New Orleans for our 30 th anniversary and want to have a really special dinner. We have eaten at Ruth's Chris and he loves it. Which would you choose and why? Is there another that you can recommend?

Are you kidding? Commander's Palace is a N.O. institution. There's nothing like it. You can get a steak at Ruth's anywhere.

Commander's Palace is part of the Brennan Family operations. They have the leading restaurants in a city known for its food. Emeril Lagasse got his start at Commander's Palace. He was head chef there for years. Call ahead for reservations. Way ahead.

Other places:

Emeril's
Emeril's NOLA
Brennan's for breakfast. Nothing like it. Something you have to do at least once in your life. Starting the day with fine linens and china ... perfect service... turtle soup, sherry, and an amazing three hour experience is not to be rushed.

If you travel, you should enjoy the regional cuisine. And New Orleans has the best food in the world.

This is a no brainer! Commander's Palace is considered one of the very best restaurants in NOLA and a quintessential local experience. You can go to Ruth Chris anywhere. It's a chain!

You have to say Commander's. You can go to a steakhouse anywhere in America, but when you come to New Orleans, you have to eat the food.

Galatoire's, Martinique, and Upperline are all great places too.

Commanders Palace.

Ruth's Chris is all over the place.

Might I also suggest Arnaud's?
