Your cat only needs a bath if it smells bad, is not taking care of its own fur so it mats, you're using flea shampoo, or some other special reason.

For cat baths they sell special little hoses attached to brushes that screw into your shower head. You can also fill the tub with just a little water and pour it gently over the cat. Make sure the temperature is just right, warm to the touch but not as hot as a people bath. Make sure everything is comfortable and non-threatening. Some cats learn to like the attention and brushing, and others will tolerate it.

If you still can't deal you can take your cat to a pet groomer and they get the job done. I can't imagine what a horror show goes on in there.

If you think washing the cat is hard, try drying a cat. They don't like the noise of a hairdryer for sure. But you have to towel them down really well, and don't let them wander around in the cold with wet hair.

As most others have said, cats don't normally need a bath; however, there are times that it has to happen. Wear long sleeves and long pants. Depending on how insistent your cat can get with its claws you might want to have oven mitts as well. LOTS of towels. If you have access to a dryer, put several towels in it and use those after wards. The others are for containment.

Make sure that the bathroom and the house is VERY warm. Cats get upper respiratory issues fairly easily if they get cold when they are wet. Have water in the tub before you capture the cat, actually have everything ready before you get the cat.

Make sure that you rinse VERY well as the cat will lick off whatever soap is left behind. If that happens you will have a cat that is pissed at you and has diarrhea... not a good combo...

Talk to her/him in a soft sing song voice the whole time... and use their name alot... be gentle and move steady and slowly. Try not to have loud noises or inquisitive dogs around for this if possible.

After the bath get her/him as dry as possible. Some cats will deal with a hair dryer but I never have used it. Then keep them inside until they are VERY dry.

Good luck!

There are brushes you can buy that will get all of the loose hair off of kitty! If he is dirty you can take a wet wash cloth and bath him but since he is an adult I would not put him in water! You need to bath a cat only if you start when he is a wee kitten!

Cats rarely need baths because they groom themselves. If your cat got into something smelly and really needs a bath badly, fill the sink with warm water and use baby shampoo or a special cat shampoo. Put the cat in a pillowcase up to his neck and wash him throught the pillow case. Have a big fluffy towel to dry him off or he will shake himself and spray water everywhere. This method works!

if your cats doesn't like bath don't force him. They grooms and licked themselves all the tie. It is a different story if they are outside cats then they may neeed them but if they are indoors cats I wouldn't think so. But if you start giving the cat a bath when he is a kitten then maybe he will like my friends bathe her cats but she started them when they were kitten and they love it. That is up to you. But don't force the cat you might have one fight on your hands.

Usually cats don't need a bath, but there are always stinky cats too! Dip a soft-bristle cat brush in a bowl of 4 parts water, 1 part vinegar. Brush your cat, he/she won't even realize the brush is wet. That is if you don't let it drip!

No, I don't think so. Cat's clean themselves, and by nature are meticulous groomers. I've had cats all my life and have never once given them a bath. And you are right, they hate water, and will put up an incredible fight should you put them in water.

why do you want to bathe him is he stinky? if you dont want to do the whole bath thing just try to get a wash cloth with soap (light amount) and cover him and then go over him again with a wash cloth with only water this will be quicker and easier for you

Cats do need baths. I'd try taking it to the tub and *warning: you need thick gloves or alot of socks on your hands for this!!!* getting it wet(duh!) then you put shampoo on and wash it like a ball. but don't get the face!!! put it in a towel and act like you saved it's life.
