It's never okay for anyone to call anyone else that. That said, father's are human too, and when they lose their tempers out of frustration sometimes things like that will come out of their mouths. If he doesn't usually call you names, then just forgive him. But make sure he knows how much it hurt your feelings.

It is never okay to use such language. If a problem must be addressed, the father should stick to the problem and not ruin the daughter's self-esteem in the process. The ACTION may have been stupid or idiotic but that doesn't mean the person is.

Idiot: When the daughter has an IQ under 25 (the mental equivalent of a two-year-old).

Stupid:
Well, ignorant is when you don't know any better. Stupid is when you do. Most of us are stupid about something! I ride a motorcycle. That's pretty stupid.
Sutpid: smoking.
Stupid: buying, selling, or using illegal drugs.
Stupid: breaking the law.
Stupid: getting drunk in a frat house
Stupid: not using a condom at the appropriate time

Well it is neva ok 4 a father to call his daughter stupid, or an idiot, bc he isn't doing anything but putting his daughter down. And parents roles are to keep their child/kids happy, and motivated, not to put them down in any kind of way.

Absolutely never. First of all, it is disparaging to the daughter. Secondly, it sets a bad example. People called stupid, idiot, or other offensive words by their parents will probably do that to their own offspring.

Never. Parents are supposed to help their kids, not trash them. If a child DOES something stupid they might say that was a stupid thing to do, and that they know better, but it isn't ever cool for a parent to call a kid stupid.

It really depends on how he says it. If he's kidding then it's no big deal. For example if she drops her purse into a freshly made birthday cake. He could say you idiot and laugh. However, if it's said with a mean tone-- Never!
