I don't know, I'd be happy with seeing ANY American commercials. I haven't seen any for almost two years. It's funny the things you miss when your spouse is in the Army and you get stationed overseas, lol.
As for my answer to your question, I suppose if they bothered me, I would do what I always do: Block them out. I don't think it would offend me that much, really.

I ignore all commercials - either by turning the sound off until the programme comes back, flicking straight past them in a magazine or concentrating on the road signs rather than the billboards. There could be abstinence commercials all the time for all I know, and if there are, hurrah for whoever is interested in them. Their lives are their business. I could not possibly be offended by something that did not overtly express hatred against another group of people.

Plenty of people are offended by the sexual images portrayed in the media. There's no reason you' shouldn't be offended. As for the religious ads, I'd be turned off and not offended. And I'd prolly just laugh at the abstinence ad.
But see this is the thing. This isn't even really a religious question. It may pertain to religion, but the actual theme is greater. Something is always going to offend someone. You just happen to be offended by something that's very mainstream, which is unfortunate.

Depends on how the commercial was made, althought I think 15 minutes is a little too much. Maybe once an hour or once very 2 hours.
Those "the more you know" commercials are cool. You know, about Education.
They are thoughtful, well made and don't alienate anyone.
If you're going to do abstance commercials you need like, really cute, shapely 14-25 year old girls who just talk about how much they hate being objects and how bad they feel about being taken advantage of, and how they look down upon any guy who just thinks of them as body parts.
That instills fear into guys. Fear that girls might HATE them. Fear that girls might speak ILL of them.
Another thing that might work is guys talking about how they are just into getting what they can get from a girl for the sheer joy of it.
That'll make girls think twice.
All they are is some opening. A garage for the guy to park his car.
And it has to be personal, not religious or from some group.
It's gotta be UNO to UNO
It's gotta be a hidden camera set up in a bar getting guys to actually say what it's like to BAG A BABE, graphically as you can.
Especially if it's got lines about what you have to say and do to get her out of her clothes and into a bed.
Especially if it makes HER look stupid and gullible.

That's a very interesting question, Debra. I never thought of it that way. I really think ads that are creative and humorous are much more memorable than the sexual images that supposedly 'sells' anyway. I do find overly sexual commercials a big turnoff. And women have so much of the buying power in this country, there should be a way to take advantage of that to influence the types of commercials that are profitable. (I wonder if there have been studies to determine what is more profitable...)
Actually, I have seen more faith based commercials this year than usual (LDS and Methodist especially). It's refreshing.
Hoping the best for you...

I'd probably wanna go have more sex, in all honesty. I know anti smoking ads always make me light up. Seriously though. A woman's body is a beautiful thing, and seeing a woman in lingere hawking beer makes men go buy beer. It's the nature of the beast. I'm sorry that offends you, but it's just the way the world is. There are no moral absolutes in an immoral society. However, I have to ask (repectfully) - do you feel this way because of your faith? Or does it go deeper than that?

Well - being as ads like that are propaganda to promote one religion over another it would make me feel like I was constantly being preached to, or that someone was trying to convert me. So yes, it would probably offend me. But on the positive side, I'd likely watch a lot less television, not read magazines, and I'd find more physical activities to take up my time.

That stupid male enhancement one, with Bob grinning like the cheshire cat. exceedingly on account that I study a piece of writing that mentioned that the product they are hyping replaced into as quickly as marketed for yet another element. It does not artwork. not for the different element, not for male enhancement (regardless of it particularly is meant to recommend!) additionally, whilst Billie Mays died, i theory we've been going to be spared any extra of those pushy categorized classified ads. seems this isn't so. The categorized classified ads circulate on, advert finitim.

Slightly different things. Showing sex on tv is neither a judgment nor a command to belong to one faith or ideology. Religon and calls for abstinence are.
While they would be just as "in your face", they are actually different things.
Nice try, though.
Gee, I forgot about all the jesus is lord crap I have to deal with on a daily basis! Tee shirts, bumper stickers, jesus fish, billboards, signs, shows like the 700 club and 7th heaven. Churches with signs in front telling me how to live my life are EVERYWHERE. That's not to mention the people I have to deal with, constantly telling me about church or this or that.
You know what, Deb? We already DO live in that kind of world. I guess you just focused on the things that irritate you personally and forgot about all the other stuff that gets under other people's skin!
