Sorry this is long, bear with me.

Monday evening I started getting a stuffy and runny nose. Tuesday it got a little worse. Wednesday I was really weak so I was taking sudafed and slept most of the day. Thursday it was a little better but I began coughing. By thursday night the cough was getting really bad that I woke myself up numerous times. Even though I was taking Tylenol and cough drops. Thursday night I took some Tylenol cold and flu night time pills and still woke up coughing. It is a horrible sounding cough. Friday morning I was going to do a "walk in" at the doctors but I woke up too late. The cough seems to be getting alot worse, and there's yellowish phlegm. The doctor doesn't have an answering service and won't be open until Tuesday. I have tried all kinds of OTC meds and they aren't working. I don't know what to do. I don't think it's serious enough for a trip to the hospital but I really don't know what to do.

DON'T KEEP CHANGING TO DIFFERENT MEDICINE!!!! some medicines can react with the other causing more problems.

Drink a lot of water or milk. Keep eating regularly.

Second best place to go is the Pharmacy. Tell the Pharmacist what your symptoms are and the pharmacist will tell you what OTC medicine you should take.

OT start taking 2 Benadryl tablets every 6 hrs or 2 in the morning and 2 one hour before sleep. (For temporary relief ONLY) (I prefer benadryl. you might prefer Acetominophen or Ibuprofen, etc)(Take what you prefer)

Consult your doctor ASAP.
If you are really worried, don't guess that it's not serious enough to go to ER. It might be serious.

Sounds as if you may have bronchitis with the yellow phlem. This indicates some infection. With asthma you really need to see a doctor. The soreness is from the coughing.

Sounds like you might have some sort of infection. Go to the local A and E Department and insist on seeing a doctor.

you could have pneumonia that is not too good to have and let it go...nothing OTC will it you have to get an anitbiotic...if it too bad you might have to be admitted to the hospital..i would go to the hospital and get some x rays to see what the hell is going on.. you dont want that to go for too much longer....

If you are really worried that's what an ER is for, to help you. Try a humidifier if you have one for your stuffy nose. Hope this helps.
