Because of how the smell sense works. When we smell something it is because tiny particles of the object causing the smell have entered our nostrils. Therefore, we don't mind our own farts because we know they're from us, and subcounsciously we know that when we smell someone elses it's because actual particles of filth from their anus have entered our body!

Well for me, it is the fact that i lost my smell when i was 5 yrs old. So what you can't smell can't offend you. But even if I could smell I dond't think that I would be offended. I think it depends of what kind of fart and where the fart is taking place. If you are doing a back yard BBQ and drinking ber with the guys, then hell yes, let er' rip. And the louder the better. You are the man. However you should take caution not to stand too close to the grill while releasing gas as it could be a hot time in the old pants tonight!! However, when you are at dinner or on a date, one should take care not to release gas, 'cause this can be quite embarrassing. But, if you are in a walmart store and cut one all you have to do is hold your nose and look at the person standing next to you and let them take the blame for your inconsistence. So the answer is YES and NO!!

The other day some guy farted in an elevator and I felt like if Morpheus from that Matrix movie was coming for me ,I swear a god. I perceive mine differently .They´re like wine without the opulence. An example of honest and simple expression. A jealous sidekick we have to agonically refrain from stunt entering at the wrong time. But whos presence is gently encourage at our moments of sloth.

There is a saying that every man (or woman) loves the smell of their own farts. You are not offended by your own shitt but would be by a strangers and the same goes for any bodily liquid/smell etc. (including boogies/boogers/phlegm/earwax and the little black things you find between your toes and the chessy stuff on toe nails etc... and the list goes on.

Remember he/she that smelt it dealt it and that's defineitely true.

I'm not offened- I think farts are a crack-up - unless they come from the bathtub - for somereason bathtub farts smell and yes they'd be mine but other than that-depending on what you ate - that's what it normally smells like. The worst are broccoli & egg farts.

Not much we can do about that is it. Some people find it highly amusing to set fire to them and their under ware, some people go out of their way to eat anything that will produce the loudest smelliest farts possible. And for some it,s a non violent and cleaner way to s#it on people who annoy them.

Crazy question, but i may have a somewhat sober answer.

I think the same principle applies to tickling. If you are prepared for it (ie doing it to yourself), it has no effect. When someone else does it however, more times than not, there will be a reaction.

Some of us do make it a point to get a good whiff of it to ascertain it's specific characteristic.

My cat doesn't seem to mind her own smelly excrement. After doing it in the bathtub, she sleeps right there in the bathroom floor, and the stench was horrendous.

I think it's fascinating to us that we can produce such sounds and noxious smells without even trying. We ignore the smell and concentrate on the miracle of expelling gas involuntarily.

Oh wait -- that's just me.

Because our farts smell nice to us but not to other people.
