His follower, Ananda, asked him who would teach them when he was gone. Buddha answered, "He will be known as Metteyya, which means 'he whose name is kindness.'" Have their been any great teachers since then with this name or title?

His prophesy was that in 2500 years, Mettraya, he whose name is kindness, will appear in the West. That he will have flaming hair (red, I assume).
As with all teachers or Messiahs their message did not spread widely until after their deaths, and I doubt that this person would have called himself by the name of "Mettreya" since this would not be a Western name.
So from what I know about this I would say that Yes, there has been a great teacher and he did live during the 20th century (Christian dates).
His message and teachings are available since he did write them all down and gave many recorded lectures during his life (unlike the Buddha who did not have the technology available to him that we now have developed in the past 200 years)

No one has come along yet. People are not yet living to the age of eighty thousand, which is when the prophecy says he will come.
