Thomas I suffer from depression and I have never wanted any of my symptoms to stay.
U know of the black cloud that gets into ur soul and wont let go no matter what. You may have grown so accustomed to ur depression that u like feeling this way so that the pity from others will continue and u can sleep ur day away and not have to worry about doing anything. Thats about the only thing i can come up with except that cozy feeling is from the buzz from the medication that sedate u. Be certain to tell ur psychiatrist of these feelings as he may have other answers for ur particular feelings. GL

your kind of confused aren't you? first your depressed and it feels Bad! Than It feels good!? well first things first depression is not healthy and can contribute to shorter life expectancy! Now if you are saying to your other self that it is good to feel pain of despair than i suggest you seek medical help not mental health! because you could have a physical deficiency !I always say first you have do some thing that you will feel or help you feel like you have accomplished something even if its a small feat! i suggest getting your sock drawer and dump it out on the bed and get back in bed and just reorganize your socks a then when finished there put the socks back into the drawer!now doesn't that make you feel better?
good luck

Reveling in your own depression is not a healthy thing, even though it can be a comforting thing. I've been there. I know what you are feeling. you don't want to see anybody, you don't want to go out, you just don't want to get out of bed. See your Dr., with the proper medication and counseling you will slowly come out of it and see that living life and being around other people and having a smile on your face can actually be a good thing. Good Luck!

I know exactly where you are coming from. Might not want to hear this...For some reason you think you SHOULD suffer. Depriving your self of anything...kinda feels right. This kind of depression really NEEDS to be treated. Not with JUST meds...but talking to a trained professional. Others feel down when things go wrong-and call THAT depression. What we have is too deep to let go.And won't get better with time. Please get help. Some how being deprived brings us "home". Just cuz you WERE deprived- doesn't mean THAT's what you DESERVE!!!My heart goes out to you...others don't understand how emptiness can be so filling. PLEASE stop the hurt that was forced on you! No one can hurt us worse then our self's.YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!

The melancholy feeling of depression often brings about sad, but fond memories. This is what I've felt during depression, and sought professional help, because it was bringing about self-destructive behaviors in me. It's been over 10 years since I was clinically depressed, but now I know the signs, and will seek treatment before it gets out of hand. I felt as though I was literally walking through hell...alone.
