Steve I know where you are coming from. Religion means a belief in the supernatural. So before Christian faith people had religion and beliefs in their own gods. It is that the Christain faith became more available to the masses by the spreading of gospels. So God or a greater force has always been there since time began.

He has to be the same God we have now, since He created all things. At least that is something on which Christians and Muslims are agreed . The first religion may have been started by Abraham, another thing we are agreed on. Since then, though, there have been many divergent opinions (based on self-interest?) - Isaac (for the Jews) and Ishmael (for Muslims) would have been the first. Incidentally, both major religions believe in each other's founder-prophet, for they are historic facts. The difference is that Christians believe Jesus was Divine. Before there was religion there was paganism and that was really freaky. There were human sacrifices and all that kind of stuff.

that's a very good question. i never thought about it. supposedly there was no god because when religion was started, god showed up. i don't think that's what happened. i think somebody made up religion, and therefore made up god. that's just an idea though. like i said, i never really thought about it................
