I have a fairly good relationship with my mother even though we live a thousand miles apart. I have not been around my father since I was 12 and now I'm 36. He is too sick, mean, and inaccessible for me to know. He pushed just about everyone away. I know my mom is not perfect but at least she is a functional relative.

Yes, now. Not so much so when I was a teenager. Now I'm grown and have kids of my own. When we're teens we think we know best and our parents are just stupid, and as we get older we find out that they know a whole lot more than we ever gave them credit for!! In fact, I now use my folks as a resource for all kinds of things! Work problems, friend problems, marital advice, cooking ideas, parenting advice, you get the picture...

With my mom, I have a good one. It's not that good with my father.. too many problems in the past to get over. It's an okay-at-times relationship.

YES!

My Mom and Dad are the best. They gave us a good upbringing, in every sense. They were, and still are, supportive. We grew up with a lot of love. Every time I talk to them, I end the conversation with "I love you," and they do the same.

I was, however, a crappy teenager. I have my Dad's personality. LOL...we used to argue every day! Ironically, I'm closest to him than my Mom (though I am very close to Mom).

I hope that I can be the parents that they were to me to my kids, when I have them.
