From reviews and what I've seen the Sony SXRD sets are the best picture. The A2000 you have listed is a good buy but uses XBR1 technology. New units are coming out with XBR2 technology that are supposed to be even better. Both are 1920x1080 true resolution. The KDL-52XBR3 is a flat-panel LCD and is very expensive. Unless you have to have flat panel, go for the projectors. The plasmas can't compete in this class (look at the numbers here--they do matter). In the large sizes you are looking at, the pixel count makes a difference. There are prices and reviews at http://www.cnet.com/

Search for the model no of the set and read the comments.

The main "number" you need to look at is the 1080p. The Panasonic and Samsung plasmas are not equipped 1080p technology.

The Pioneer and Sonys listed are capable of displaying the 1080p picture that the PS3 will be able to produce.

Well, I would say brand name really counts. Panasonics are known for making the best HDTVs, but you will pay for the brand name. I am actually thinking about buying a Samsung 42" Plasma TV. I have done all of my research and I know that this is the best TV for me.

Good luck!
