sounds to me like your looking for a barking cat. Get a real dog like Great Dane not some little ankle bitting pest that you want to boot like a football.

First I have to tell you, ALL dogs shed. Long hair dogs shed a couple of times a year and require alot of brushing. Short hair dogs shed year round, just smaller amounts constantly. All terriers are going to love playing and running, but most are not known for being great with really small children, They don't tolerate even accidental abuse( tail pulling, petting to hard, being stepped on). Would probably not want a terrier for a child under 4. I would probably recomend a chinese crested, as they seem to be all that you need. Chinese crested require sunscreen when out in the sun though, as they have NO hair on their bodies( just a bit on their head and tail) but with no hair, comes no shedding. They are good with kids, relatively small (5-12 lbs) and are active dogs.

Small dog, little or no shedding, hyper, loves to run and play and relatively friendly with smaller children: that sounds like a poodle to me. My poodle, Cosmo, doesn't bark excessively like I heard poodles do either. My daughter is 2 and Cosmo is her best friend. I take him to get groomed about every 8 weeks.

I have a Shih Tzu. She is very playful. Rarely barks. Loves to cuddle and be petted. She does not shed. The only fear with small children is they could hurt her if they sat on her. I have mine cut short every 2 or 3 months. I only have to brush her ears and tail. We bathe her in between visits. These dogs are so sweet we are looking for another one. Even my husband is crazy about her and he never really wanted a dog in the house. m

I have a shitz-su and she is great. These dogs are house dogs, require being sent to the groomers every 6 weeks or so, or you can bathe them at home and brush them. They don't shed, and can be taught anything you want them to learn, they are very sensitive. They are very loyal, if they are raised with your children they will protect them like they are a big dog lol These are very sweet loving dogs, and they aren't hyper. They like to lay with you on the couch and sit on your lap, they would be good with kids. They love doggie toys and love to play.

In my experience small dogs and small children do not make the best mix.

A poodle might be an option (don't shed), a chinese crested, Jack Russell, or a min pin. I'm not sure how good they are with childern though.

i don't know what you should get but i can tell you wat i got i got a beagle they are hyper have lots of energy they are noise because it comes with their hunting heratiage i have two they fight alot but sometimes the cuddle with each other the really love my attention my dog has this nasty habit of going in to the garbage so watch out and trust i had one when i was a little kid to it was ok but not all dogs have the same personality for exlpame my female dog is mean and very protective but sometimes she cute and cuddlely like an angel, my male dog is cute nice doesn't want to fight unless you hurt him and is not very active lazy sleepy an so cute but some times he can get rerally angry. See my male dog and female dog are different so even if my dogs are nice to children yours m,ight not i am not a dog expert so don't believe me or blame if you get one and don't like it i'm just telling wat my dogs are like and they are beagles.
