Generally, dogs can only take about 15-30 minutes of intensive training a day. But you can always reinforce the training at each opportune moment throughout the day.

Short amounts of time for actual training is the best way. For a 3 month old pup. Ten or 15 minutes would be the longest you would want to train for. You do not want the puppy to become bored or overwhelmed so the short training times is the way to go. You can do that a few different times per day as long as you keep it short, positive and always end on a with the puppy doing the task properly. Following any training session should be some play time so the dog will associate doing good work with love and fun. Good Luck with your new puppy. Peace:)

It depends on what you are "training". Actually training is non stop, as with children. Training is: lie down and wait until I release you for your meal, don't beg at the table, do not walk out the door until I invite you, come and play with a toy......
As far as more obedience/structured training.....depending on age of dog, about 10 minutes at a time. But you can repeat the 10 minutes a few times a day between breaks.

I don't know what the recommended time is, but when I was training my dogs I worked with them for 2 15 minute sessions each day. It prevented the both me and the dogs from getting frustrated and worn out. This does not include normal good behavior stuff like making them sit before they can eat, putting them on a down stay while you are eating dinner, etc.

anytime you are with them can be a training time. But 10 minutes for actual training, then play and then back to training. you need a choke chain, made in the form or a P and put on and clip leash to that. if the are doing wrong pulling slightly on the leash will tighten the chain around their neck slightly. Be sure and take choke chain off when you are done working and by that he will associate the choke chain to work/training etc.

20 minutes is the maximum at one time for best results. And always with lots of love and praise.
Obedience school is a wonderful opportunity that trains You to train your dog. :-) It also socializes your pet to acceptable behavior around other people and dogs.

It depends on your training style and what youre training your dog to do. Training that involves scolding (such as correcting your dog when he/she pees in the house) should not be regualar and should be brief, but delivering the correct message to your dog.
If you are training based on a reward sysyem (ex. you give Bugsy a treat when he sits), than I would say go as long as you want as long as your dog doesn't begin to seem fed-up or frustrated!
Good Luck!

Short bits of 5 minutes a few times a day are the best. You want to keep it fun and interesting for them. Long repetitions are not as effective as you will lose your dogs interest.

It depends if you are training for tricks or for house breaking, or minding. For tricks as often as you feel like it or if the dog acts like it wants to play and be active. But regular training like minding and house training has to be done all through the day and night when necessary. because if you stop then he will not remember what you are trying to teach him be persistant and consistant. and they will love u for ever.

When working on Force Fetch ten minutes max
Pattern field/blinds 15-20 minutes
