I don't know about the UK but If the parent agrees at 16, then I would suspect you could do it. However, please remember that what sounds like a GREAT idea at 15 and 16 is often COMPLETE LUNACY at 20 or 30. Not that tattoos are bad or that you can't make a decision for life at about 1/6th of your life expectancy, but please, please get it where it is easy to cover up. Good luck!

Nope, you have to be 18 in the UK.
Bummer, I know. Been there, done that.
Please, do not consider DIY, it's dangerous and it won't turn out as good as a professional tattoo. Also, beware of shops that say they'll tattoo you younger than 18, because if they are laxed on laws like that they may be laxed on laws pertaining to sterility.
If you wait until you're 18 your tattoo will actually come out better as well. At 16 you're still growing so your tattoo will grow with you and inevitably look stretched.

I would suggest you call up a local tattoo parlor and ask them. I know you say you are in the UK, but for example, in the USA the laws vary from state to state. Some allow you to get them with parental permission at 16 or 17 and some won't allow you to get them until you are 18.

I don't know about the UK, but in South Dakota, USA, you have to be 18 no matter what in most tattoo places...I got one at 18 and my brother was going to get one at 16 or 17...my mom even went with and they still didn't do it....Good luck!

I'm in the U.S. & I got my first tat when I was 19. I think u should wait until ur at least 18. Be really sure of what u get & where u get it because u will live w/it for the rest of ur life--unless u want to pay big $$ to get it painfully removed & have a big, ugly scar! I got a rose w/a dagger w/blood drops coming off the dagger on my back & eagle's wings w/a Yin/Yang on my left breast. I know that last one is original & nobody has one like it! They r only visible when I want them to be--a regular shirt covers them most of the time.

U have to be 18 to get one. But most places will give you one if your parents are there with you when you are 16, that's here in the US anyways.

Here in Connecticut you have to be 18 yrs old or 16 yrs old with parental consent. I made my daughters wait until they were 18 yrs old though

If your rents are with ya, it's legal, once your 16.

But if you want your tat now, DIY tattooing is always an option.

I'd suggest you wait till you're 18, just so you are sure you'll want your tat for your whole life. It's a permanent choice. If you're mature for your age and you know you'll want it forever, go for it.

Shine on.
