The bicycle and the plank are two exercises that work every muscle in your abs. You can also make your crunches more effective by resting your mid-lower back on a big exercise ball. Lastly, a good cardio routine, like running for 30 min 3x /wk., will help burn the fat around your midsection so your abs are more apparent.
To do the bicycle, lie on your back, legs bent at 90 degree angle, and hands resting behind your head with your elbows out. Extend your left leg out straight, about 6 inches off the ground, while you take your left shoulder towards your right knee (still bent). Then switch sides. Repeat as many times as you can. Keep your lower back on the floor. Hold a 3-10 lb weight behind your head for an extra workout.
To do the plank, lie on the floor, stomach down. Push up so that you are on your toes and forearms, elbows directly below your shoulders. Your body should be flat like a plank, so you will need to hold your stomach up and keep your butt down. Hold for 20 sec or more.

For crunches, you can start with 50 and work your way up to 100 or more. Just work at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
If you have access to a medicine ball, you can do crunches with that to add some resistance. You can also do twist while holding the ball in front of you to work your sides.
For the lower abs, try doing leg raises with a partner pushing your legs down. To do this, have your partner stand behind you while you lay flat. Hold their ankles while you raise legs up and have them push your legs down. Killer workout.
Lastly, you can do leg lifts which is where you lay flat with your hands, palms down, under your butt. Keep your legs straight and lift them up about 6 inches off the ground and hold them there for about 10-15 seconds. Rest for a few seconds and repeat for 10-15 reps to start. Good luck!

If you have stubborn belly fat, the only way you can reduce your fat is by doing aerobic exercises. During activities like swimming, rowing and walking, enough oxygen is supplied to the body to burn fat. Fat is burned from all over the body, including the stomach. If aerobic exercises are done regularly over a period of time, you will gradually lose weight. The healthiest way to prevent a fat stomach is by ensuring that your weight is normal for your height. Ensure that the energy provided by the food you eat matches the energy you burn performing your daily activities. Losing fat around the stomach takes time. well i try to do about 150 crunches a day. i try to keep up with it, but sometimes i cant fit it into my schedule. but i try to like 50 side crunches (50 on each side), and then 50 normal crunches. My stomach is toned, and I've been happy with the results so far. Just try to keep up with it.
