You will know if your dog has an eye infection if it has yellow or green crust around his/her eye, if it gets pink and swollen.
I would take your dog to the vet in case!

If it's eye is all swollen and puffy with crust around it and red then it probably has an eye infection. Take it to the vet if it shows those symptoms.

What are the specific symptoms and what breed of dog is it? Some dogs (like my boxer) are prone to eye ulcers. Here is a website with a little more info.... but in the long run your vet should be the one to make a final decision. Good look!

The eye might be swollen or squinty. It would be red and irritated looking. There would probably be a goopy discharge as well.
