No, immaculate conception is impossible because god is imaginary, and the Christian concept of a virgin birth is a myth that has been borrowed from pagan mystery religions during the time of the supposed Jesus.

The god and the Jesus that Christians worship today are amalgams formed out of ancient pagan gods. The virgin birth, along with the burial in a rock tomb, resurrection after 3 days, and communion (cannabilism) have absolutely nothing to do with Jesus.

Think of Christianity like a snowball that rolled over dozens of pagan religions. As the snowball grew, it freely attached pagan rituals in order to be more palatable to converts, which is known as assimilation and something the good Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a wonderful paper, The Influence of the Mystery Religions on Christianity, about (among many other papers on religion). See the first link in my Source List for the paper.

Also, please see his other paper, A Study of Mithraism, which is second on the list. King notes that Christianity and Mithraism "possessed many fundamental likenesses; (1) All held that the initiate shared in symbolic (sacramental) fashion the experiences of the god. (2) All had secret rites for the initiated. (3) All offered mystical cleansing from sin. (4) All promised a happy future life for the faithful."

Some scholars speculate that the the entire story of Jesus, which is shared with at least 20 other religions during and before its time, is nothing but a personification of the sun, moon, stars, and seaons, since the sky, or heavens, were closely watched.

For example, the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the entire globe, giving credence to the fact that everywhere you go, religion will be there in one form or another. A short explanation follows:

1. The sun "dies" for three days on December 21 (or December 22), the winter solstice, when it stops in its movement south, to be "born again" or "resurrected" on December 25, when it resumes its movement north.

2. The calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" since that's what Virgo means, hence the date of Jesus' birth (and countless other godmen.

3. The sun is the "light of the world" and it "cometh on clouds, [so that] every eye shall see" it.

4. The sun rising in the morning is the "savior of mankind."

5. The sun wears a corona, halo, or "crown of thorns."

6. The sun "walks on water."

7. The sun has 12 followers or helpers, known in Christianity as disciples, which are nothing more than the 12 months or 12 signs of the zodiac.

8. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "most high," thus, "he" begins his "father's work" at "age" 12; if your'e familiar with the Bible story, you'll know this.

9. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hence the "sun of god" begins his ministry at the "age" of 30.

10. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified," which represents its passing through the equinoxes, the vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is resurrected.

Of course, if you are so delusional to believe in a story written over 2,000 years ago by a bunch of nomadic tribesmen, then by all means be my guest. The rest of the logical, rational, intelligent people of this world will come to the conclusion that it's a story, and that immaculate conception is indeed scientifically impossible.

And yes, my answer is quite short, it would take hundreds of thousands of paragraphs to debunk every delusional belief out there.

PS - That whole "nothing is impossible for my god" line is also the lamest excuse I've heard. Quit trying to rationalize your belief with illogical statements. Besides, I thought only kids believed in fairy tales...

Scientifically, it is impossible. However, there have been documented events of the "extra-ordinary" or "supernatural" or "miracles," events which seem to break the laws of science. Because of this, it is not possible to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that immaculate conception is impossible.

That was a double negative.

Hope this helps!

Virgin was a predcessor to nuns back then and Mary with a cherry was born of a virgin herself--immaculate conceptions happened all the time because these "Virgins" actually served as wives for priests and monks--and the word messiah only means "anointed one"--educate yourself

It is a belief.

It is not a theory to be proved.

My God has no limits. so why does yours?

Explanation of the Immaculate Conception is found in Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Why do you waste your time asking about a belief? You obviously know the concepts and you do not believe it.

It is opposed to scripture... It is based in part on the FALSE doctrine of "original sin."

Original sin is a LIE!

When you realize this, you understand that the doctrine of "immaculate conception" and infant baptism are both MEANINGLESS.

No one is BORN with the guilt of sin. Since everyone is born innocent, there is NO NEED to figure out some way for Jesus to be born without guilt for Adam's sin.

This understanding is based on a study of the 18th chapter of Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 18:1 A message came to me from the LORD. He said, 2 “You people have a proverb about the land of Israel. What do you mean by it? It says, “‘The parents eat sour grapes. But the children have a bitter taste in their mouths.’

--> 3 “You will not use that proverb in Israel anymore,” announces the LORD and King.

“And that is just as sure as I am alive. 4 Everyone belongs to me. Father and son alike belong to me.

--> People will die because of their own sins.<--

[God presents a hypothetical family of alternating good and evil fathers to explain this teaching:]

5 “Suppose a godly man does what is fair and right.
...
9 He follows my rules. He is faithful in keeping my laws. He always does what is right. You can be sure he will live,” announces the LORD and King. 10 “But suppose he has a mean son who harms other people. The son commits murder. Or he does some other things that are wrong.
...14 “But suppose that son has a son of his own. And the son sees all of the sins his father commits. He sees them, but he does not do them.
...17 ... He will not die because of his father’s sin. You can be sure he will live. 18 But his father will die because of his own sin. He got rich by cheating others. He robbed his relatives. He also did what was wrong among his people.

--> 19 “But you still ask, ‘Is the son guilty along with his father?’ No! The son did what was fair and right. He was careful to keep all of my rules. So you can be sure he will live.

Read the whole chapter and you will see I have not lifted the passage out of its context. I just skipped sections that elaborate on what they did or did not do.

The immaculate conception is mary's being born without original sin. I assume you mean the virgin birth. In BOTH cases, it's all symbolic -- it's a very common religious metaphor that represents a spiritual awakening (being born to the realization of one's spirit as opposed to animal/human nature). 'Virgin birth' was used as a metaphor for the buddha, too, in some stories.

if your meaning virgin birth, then no, its not impossible. in fact its MEDICALLY feasable, depending on your definition.

obviously there has to be exposure to sperm... lol, but there does *NOT* neccesarily have to be intercourse. especially in an age where people frequently ride horses and donkeys and whatnot.

remember while lots of things change, some things don't....

and doubly so, is that the original text thats used as a reference for the virgin birth thing doesn't ACTUALLY say virgin, it says young woman.

'Think that the world is crazy now? Virgin birth, Mmmmmmmm, now just *where* would we all be today without it?

To answer your question, obviously, it's not impossible, or else there would be no feud over the reality of Jesus the Christ.

Yes. No one can be born with the inability to do any wrong at all unless she was raised by strict parents and was an extremely devout Jew.
