I do not know of any insurance just for bipolar disorders. If you think you are eligible for your gov't medical program, try applying for it and see if you qualify. I understand. My son has bipolar and ADHD and his meds are about $500 monthly. Here's a website that offers 25-40% discount on prescription medications that my son's doctor gave us that you can try and apply for.

Health isnurance shouldn't be so much an issue as life insurance. I have had a really bad time finding life insurance b/c of the high incidence of suicide. But health insurance??? Might be more $ b/c of the cost of treatment, but you shouldn't be dnied because of it. Some of the companies will say it's a preexisting condition and won't cover care, but for every one like that, there are 5 more that will cover it... Try Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kaiser Permanente, or Aetna... they also have the best coverage areas/ no of dr's... and Kaiser's HMO (I use it) is very user friendly...

Good Luck, and let me know how things work out...

It's considered a serious illness, but not one that would preclude you getting a provider imo. Bear in mind that you can see most psychiatrsts w/out life ins. for about 75-100 bucks a visit and lithium is a very cheap drug if you are not insured. Some other drugs aren't so cheap. Get help if you need it, your health is the best investment.

Anywhere should take you!! Usually insurance companies only reject you if you have a life threatening illness...such as HIV or cancer. I suffer from major depression and i've never been turned down for insurance

I've never heard of anyone getting turned down for that diagnosis. Now if there are suicidal issues I have seen them reject that. Who have you tried?
