Yes there were blue smarties.
11/05/2006- Pursuing a consumer health trend Nestle Rowntree has decided to eliminated artificial colours from its Smarties brand of confectionery.
Artificial colours will be removed from June, the company stated in a press release.
Consumers might be disappointed however, as according to press reports the blue Smartie will no longer exist as the company has been unable to find a natural alternative.

There definitely were blue smarties. I remember the big advertising campaign that Smarties put out when they introduced the blue ones quite a few years ago. They were around for a long while so I didn't know that they'd been removed! What's the point of getting rid of them? Surely blue hasn't suddenly become a precious colour which is about to be traded against gold! The guys at Smarties are not so smart these days - probably eating too much chocolate!

Blue smarties did exist, they could usually be found lying in the vicinity of my smarties-eating area for I refused to eat the blue smarties (for no discernible reason). Nowadays they don't make them, all the colourings in smarties have been replaced with less harmful, less e-numbery colourings; which is good news for me as I can now eat as much as I like without leaving a trail.

Of course there were, and where are they now eh? it is another bit of beautiful English eccentricity gone gone gone. Where will it end? First we sold them London Bridge (the original falling down version except it fell down for the final time under the hammer to the Americans in the sixties) But the laugh is they thought that they were buying Tower Bridge.so joking aside we got a good price for a pile o' bricks. Well that is my answer yes and I think that they will sneak then in now and again just to get us going. Shame about London Bridge though.

Do they not still make them? I
thought they did.
I remember in the nineties all of the advertisements about the new blue smarties, seems such a waste of money if they don't make them anymore, doesn't it?
