I recently colored my hair a light blonde. I'm an natural dark blonde. How can I get rid of the red that appeared on just parts of my hair? How can I avoid this the next time? I can't afford to go to the salon. Thanks

go to sallys and get a yellow intinsifier and it will have the color correction instructions on back and you could also get the same color again and go over the are that is brassy you obviously didn't leave it in long enough . Next time start at the roots and leave it there for about 20 minutes then the rest of the hair for about 10 that should get rid of the problem .And if you choose ash shades like he girl down there said your hair will be either green or grey but hey what do I know I just went to hairschool

Brassiness comes from too much coloring. It is hard to achieve luscious colored streaks on ur own, if u cant afford a pricey salon opt for a school of hairdressing school.
For right now that brassy orange has got to go because it looks extremely bad and not natural looking. I recommend toning it down quite a few shades , choose from the browns as this shade will help u cover the orange and it will look more naturally looking instead of like pippy longstocking. lol

I have the same problem. Always choose Ash shades rather than red shades. I had natural reds in my hair but when I use a color with reds I become yellowish or brassy within a week or so. Now that I use only ash shades, I don't have that problem. My daughter is a high-end hairstylist and insists that I use the Loreal in the red box that comes with highlights. Works great!

hi i'm a hairdresser and please do no longer hear to all of us that tells you to place greater tint on your hair! One rule: tint won't carry tint, subsequently putting yet another tint over your hair won't replace the colour interior the least, in easy terms injury it further. i know you do no longer desire to however the only thank you to advance the colour could be by skill of having an entire or 0.5 head of highlights. having suggested that which you would be able to nicely be waiting to get rid of fairly some the brassiness utilising a pink colored shampoo like "rusk- marvelous shampoo", you go away it on for a couple of minutes then wash it off. The pink interior the shampoo will counter-act the yellow tones and could brighten it up somewhat (you do could desire to apply it some situations). yet like i suggested, the only way you will make your hair completely lighter could be by skill of bleaching it up. desire this helps :) x

Sometimes no matter how many times you color it or what shade of blonde you choose, the brassiness just won't go away. But there is a new shampoo out that's supposed to help (sorry the name slips my mind) and you can always try using a cool shade of blonde like ash, but sometimes even that won't work

Add about 1 teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo, mix it in and wash your hair with that. Let it soak for a couple of minutes.

Baking soda cleans any impurities and leaves your hair soft and shiny.
