such a sad tragedy and yet look at how they have banded together to endure. perhaps those little ones didn't die in vain if we outsiders can learn a lesson from this. try to help them as best I could but realize they are helping me more than I am them by giving me wisdom and knowledge far beyond my kin.

The killing wasn't because the people were Amish. They just happened to have a school away from a built-up area. The killer was prepaired to be in the school for some time, He intended to rape the girls.
Your second question is difficult because it happened in that community once. That doesn't mean it's likely to happen often or even again. The next time might be right here in my community or in yours. I have spent time in Lancaster and think the Amish are a great people. They're hard workers and mind their own business, doing harm to no one.

Well, I feel sorry for the parents and siblings, however, in a country that a: allows people to have these types of weapons, b: doesn't hang crooks, and c: doesn't educate people and instill discipline into them, what can you expect. These things will continue to happen.
If I were in their community I'd have to accept that there's nothoing you can do. The murderer is dead. Just try to come to terms with the situation and carry on.

I think it was a tragedy as in it is in any community. If I were in the community all I could do is try and come to terms with what happened and try to help everyone else out to do the same.

I don't get why they are helping the killers family. It is very nice of them but it's ironic. I would still probably be holding a grudge.
