I am having a late afternoon wedding, which means that when I get out of the church will be nightime. I want pictures in the gorgeous gazebo in the church park. Obviously have to be taken during the day, What to do? Do I take the pictures before the wedding and let him see me in the dress? I am not supersticious and really dont care, but my mom is freaking out!she says its bad luck

Oh mothers. They tend to be so silly! Most wedding traditions are based on piracy when brides were stolen from their families. (They reason for the honeymoon is to hide the bride while her family looks and eventually gives up!) I don't know the specifics of why people think its bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony. You should do a search.
Of course you should take your pictures before the ceremony, even if day light wasn't an issue. Its rude to your guests to make them wait around forever

It's best to let him see how gorgeous you are in the wedding dressing walking down the ailes and see how he would react. You can always take a picture later after the wedding.

Welll I think its a big deal to first walk down the aisle and everyone and especially him see your dress for the first time, its a jaw dropping thing, but after that youre still gorgeous but its already been seen know what i mean? Maybe you should just take pictures the day after? If its the only way, than just do it, but make it out so that its a surprise like walking down the aisle so he doesnt lose the shock effect ...

There is no such thing as bad luck in this situation. Just take the pictures before the wedding. Plenty of grooms have seen their soon-to-be brides in their wedding dresses and everything turns out okay. Go for it, love!

You should want to get your pictures taken AFTER the ceremony; if you have them done before they technically are not of you and him as husband and wife! I know lots of women don't like to have the guy see them before the wedding, but in our case, we had a special blessing by family members at home before the ceremony, so he obviously saw me then.

We got married in August so we would have daylight for outdoor pictures after our wedding.
Our original date we had picked was in September or we would have had to see each other before the wedding.
I am glad we didn't, my dress was the only surprise I could keep quiet.

If it's that concerning and mom is that superticious (sp), then why not take the pics the next day. That way everyone is getting what they want. Congrats and best of luck.

get the pictures taken during the day. it's fine. tell your mom to calm down. it's just a dress, and a very old superstition.

Can they do lighting in the early evening to do the pics? I thought it was really neat having my husband not see me until my dad and I walked into the sanctuary.
