what are you wondering about it?
Ive had the epidural twice. The first time i got it when i was 4cm dilated and by the time i was ready to push it had worn off, i have several friends who had this same experience. The second time i waited til i was 7cm dilated, this took a lot of will power because labor is very painful! I just kept telling myself i would have it soon and have a bit of relief and then have my baby.I go it in, it ended up tilting more to the right side and so my right was much more numbed than my left. Each person has different reactions to it, but it doesnt hurt to try.You are still going to feel pain, but not NEARLY as much.
Good Luck and remember no matter how bad or well your labor goes, you get a baby at the end!

No, not all women in labor use pain meds. I had a baby last spring and went through 20 hours of intense labor (not counting the hours of "light" contactions), including several hours of pitocin-induced (ie: stonger, more frequent) ones, before getting an epidural so they could push the pit. I would have gone natural (no pit or pain meds) had my baby not been malpositioned-- as it was I ended up with a c-section.

I can advise you to not be so nervous about the pain. It was intense, but bearable. If it wasn't the human race would have died out a long time ago.

Do you mean pain medication during delivery? Not everyone uses it. I'd discuss it with your doctor and decide for yourself whether or not you want to go without it. And even if you initially say you don't want an epidural, you have a right later in the delivery to ask for one. If you are talking about pain medication for the aches and pains of pregnancy, again, talk to your doctor, but there is a perfectly safe OTC medication that you can take.

Not all mothers use pain medication. Tylenol is ok to use during pregnancy b/c it does not cross into the placenta (or so I have heard from my OB/GYN)

For childbirth you have choices. Discuss them with your OB. I used the Bradley method of natural childbirth and it was incredible!! I had a wonderful birth experience and used no drugs at all.

Again, discuss w/your OB, every woman is different, so you will have to make what you feel is the best choice for you.

Congrats & good luck!!

I got the epidural when i jumped from being induced to 3cm then to 7cm. But nobody told me it would feel like a pinch on your spinal cord when they insert the needle and i jumped. But the after back pain last for 1 thru 2 months after. But dont worry you'll be fine no matter what you choose. Because thats just the way women are.

If you're talking about while your pregnant, then Tylenol is fine. If you're talking about during delivery, then yes the pain medicine they give you is alright. I would definitely opt for an epidural during labor. Natural childbirth doesn't prove anything to anyone. Why have the pain if you have a choice? I had an epidural and it went great!!

I have had four children. I did not have pain medication with any of them. I used the Bradley method. It really works; I did not need pain medication. Over 90% of those who use the Bradley method do not need pain medication.

Pain medication during birth? No not all do, but MOST do, and it is nothing to be worried about.
If you are talking about headaches, stuff like that, then the best is Tylenol.

Doctors say mainly Tylenol, but I choose to deal with my pain although it drives me crazy.
