They BECOME SINNERS. Read Ezekiel 18...

"ORIGINAL SIN" is a LIE!

When you realize this, you understand that the doctrine of "immaculate conception" and infant baptism are both meaningless. No one is born with the guilt of sin. Since everyone is born innocent, there is no need to figure out some way for Jesus to be born without guilt for Adam's sin.

Ezekiel 18:1 A message came to me from the LORD. He said, 2 “You people have a proverb about the land of Israel. What do you mean by it? It says, “‘The parents eat sour grapes. But the children have a bitter taste in their mouths.’

--> 3 “You will not use that proverb in Israel anymore,” announces the LORD and King. “And that is just as sure as I am alive. 4 Everyone belongs to me. Father and son alike belong to me.
--> People will die because of their own sins.

[ God presents a hypothetical family of alternating good and evil fathers to explain this teaching:]

5 “Suppose a godly man does what is fair and right.
...
9 He follows my rules. He is faithful in keeping my laws. He always does what is right. You can be sure he will live,” announces the LORD and King. 10 “But suppose he has a mean son who harms other people. The son commits murder. Or he does some other things that are wrong.
...14 “But suppose that son has a son of his own. And the son sees all of the sins his father commits. He sees them, but he does not do them.
...17 ... He will not die because of his father’s sin. You can be sure he will live. 18 But his father will die because of his own sin. He got rich by cheating others. He robbed his relatives. He also did what was wrong among his people.

--> 19 “But you still ask, ‘Is the son guilty along with his father?’ No! The son did what was fair and right. He was careful to keep all of my rules. So you can be sure he will live.

Read the whole chapter and you will see I have not lifted the passage out of its context. I just skipped sections that elaborate on what they did or did not do.

For Christians, they are born sinners. However, that does not mean they are entitled to continue to sin. Having said that, to your first question, people definitely become sinners because they sin. To your second question, people do not have to sin just because they are born sinners, a property Christians believe from being the decendants of Adam and Eve.

Murder is a crime committed by a sinner The actions of sinners are the symptoms of sin. My experience seems to support cause-effect and not act-result. The sin nature produces the results. By their fruits you shall know them.

If one cannot see this; consider the sin nature of Christianity and the desire nature of Buddhism somewhat similar. One says the result is death and the desire should be directed to God. The other says desire brings suffering and should be abandoned.
Still both admit to a nature problem.

There are at least a dozen concepts of original sin and I am sure others abound among those who claim to be Christians.

One of the more subtle evidences of original sin is the human love of personal opinion and the hatred of correction. Should keep this site going for a long time.

Good question:
I don't think that there is a right or wrong answer to this question.
When we are born onto this Earth sin is here. We are ambassadors from the perfect world of God put here to do good things. This world is ruled by Satan in many ways, so of course there is sin here. But it really has nothing to do if we become sinners or are. On this earth we sin, we can't stop from committing all sin here in this inperfect world. It's what we do with our sin that matters more than where it came in.

To me, someone who sins is, by definition and by his actions, a sinner. The problem comes when there's disagreement about what constitutes a sin. This can range from eating the wrong kind of food to murdering millions of people, and everything in between.

a saint is a person who chose not to sin. A person who chooses to sin becomes a sinner. How can a person be a sinner if he has never sinned.

well, both, kind of...

i don't believe people are born sinners, because i believe Jesus was born as a human and was both fully human and fully divine. but i think we learn to sin through a culture of sin, if that makes any sense. hope this helps!

All the children of mankind, although inheriting some desirable traits from their parents, also inherit some undesirable ones. And, without exception, all have been born sinful as a result of their original forefather’s losing his status with God through disobedience. The Bible tells us: “Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.” Rom. 5:12.

Through sin, ‘missing the mark’ of God’s standard of perfection for him, falling short of the glory of God, which he should have reflected, Adam failed to pass on perfection to his children. So the entire human race was affected. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23.
