I believe you mean wiccan. They are commonly called witches, but from what I understand, they are very respectful of nature and the way each of us touches the world around us.

Blessed be,

Assuming you meant "Wiccan" they are practitioners of a neo-Pagan faith founded by Gerald Gardner in England in 1939, although he always called it "witchcraft". Equally important in it's development were Doreen Valiente and Alex Sanders. Books by all three are available on e-bay. Also good sources are Scott Cunningham and Janet and Stewart Farrar. You might also try witchvox.com.

Essentially it's a mystical, nature-oriented, dualistic faith centered around a Goddess and God, of whom the Goddess has eminence. Their guiding rule is: "Eight words the Wiccan rede fulfill, 'So it harm none, do what thou will'". A detailed explanation of the philosophy and rituals is beyond the scope of this forum. It is based on the Western Mysteries Tradition which was introduced to Europe from Persia by the Greek religious leader Pythagoras around 370bce, and was later spread and expanded by the alchemists through middle ages in secret since the laws against practicing witchcraft didn't start being repealed until the 1950s.

Do you mean "Wiccan"?

If so, Wicca is an offshoot of paganism; the oldest religion known to man. The word "Wicca or Wiccan" mean wise one(s). The name "pagan" means common people, and the word "heathen" means people of the heath.

It is an earth-based religion, but I fear "religion" is not a proper name. It's a way of life. Wiccan's belief system is similar to the Native American indians. We believe the earth is our Mother and we respect her with reverance. A lot of us are envirnomentalists, and work unselfishly toward bringing peace to this planet. We are non-violent, and feel that anger, hate, and mysogeny are traits better left to those who know how to deal with them.

We do not evangelize! We feel that if you want to be one of us, you will do what it takes to find us. We do not believe in sin. We believe in mistakes and do what we can to correct them. We do not believe in heaven or hell or satan. We believe after death that our spirit goes to a place of comfort and joy. No one is left behind, and no one is refused admittance.

Does that anwer your question? I hope so.

I think you mean Wiccan. As in wicca, wicca craft. or known to some as "witchcraft". In a general sense you could say wicca is "magic" or the belief of a wiccan. It has a lot of meaning and I would go into a wiccan forum to explore more.
