After making the decision to divorce my incarcerated, abusive ex-husband I became involved with his ex-best friend. He has been wonderful to me and my three children. He has helped me to feel good about myself and to regain my self-respect. I have known him for 11 years and he has always had the reputation of a player, but I have always felt he really wanted to just find a girl that was "real" instead of all the dancers and models he dated. He is very much out of my league, I am a plain country girl that spent the past 10 years as a trained dog. He is a wonderful person that loves his 2 kids and will do anything to help people, but he tries to act like he is cold and uncaring. We got very close, very quick. Now he refuses to talk to me because he is convinced I will let my ex back in because he just got out of prison. He told me that we never had anything anyway. I know he cares about me. I am very hurt and at a loss. I will never go back to my ex, he almost killed me. What now?

Perhaps he is a player and was playing you also. Or perhaps he is afraid of what or how your ex may react to his seeing you. If he truly is wanting relationship to end then grieve the loss and move on. If you think that it is salvagable then try calling him and having an honest conversation and let him know how much you enjoy being with him and that you'd like to try and have an open and honest relationship with him. Best of luck to you and keep the strength to not get involved with your ex again.

Please ask yourself the following:
#1. Have you ever heard the ole saying, "Birds of a feather"? etc.
#2. Why did you NOT believe his reputation?
#3. WHO determined you were real enough?
#4. What makes you think he's ACTING cold & uncaring?
#5. HOW has he shown you that he cares about you?
All this that you say, is YOUR opinion/thinking. Perhaps you're
somewhat dilusional after 10 years of dog training?
