One of the buildings that is close to Battery Park in New York, appears to be shaped like an actual battery (e.g. an AA cell battery).

It is more obvious when viewed from the water, as in this photo: http://www.hellonewyork.com/Images/Photos/972005Battery_Park_and_Downtown-sm.jpg . It is the building in the middle that I am referring to.

As I cannot find any information about this building, I was wondering whether, given the name of the park, this similarity was intentional, or whether it was just a coincidence. I appreciate that the park was not named after an actual battery, but I suppose it is possible that a visual reference could have been made by the designers. Has anyone else noticed this?

I think it was made mostely to reflect the water.

THE PARK is Battery Park. There are still old canons at the edge of the water. A "Battery" is a line of cannons. Why were they there? To keep the British from saling from New York harbor up the Hudson River. It you saw the movie, its also used in a major scene of Desperately Seeking Susan
