My cat wants to do ride alongs with the local police. He saw a K-9 unit at work and demanded to be given an equal opportunity. I just don't see how this is going to work!! He runs and hides under beds when I get out the vacuum, flees when we have to go to the vet, naps excessively...

I just don't know what to do...I don't want to crush his dream!!

Take him to a local police station and explain the scenario. Wear something pretty, bring a box of donuts, and I'm sure you will have no problems finding a nice officer to help you and El Gato. See if you can get an officer to take your cat out on patrol once, just to experience a day in the life of the K-9 unit. Chances are, he'll get scared sh!tless and give up on this crazy idea. But if he likes it, then let him enroll in a training program...this might give him the chance to turn his lazy life around. Everyone should get a chance to follow their dream, no matter how silly!

Well he would be great for hunting down stolen tuna? If a crook doesn't stop just throw some catnip on him and let then fun begin! Before long your kitty will be a trend setter and cops everywhere will want a kitty-9 <

Show him re-runs of T. J. Hooker.

Prolonged exposure to William Shatner in a uniform two sizes too small should cure his enthusiasm for the police force forever.

Then, appoint him Deputy Head Of Anti-Mouse Counterintelligence in your house.

(Not 'Head', the boy's got to work his way up.)

Thanks for the good giggles!
Here's my suggestion: Give your cat a new dream. Tell it the story of Scarlett the hero cat who ran back into a burning building to save her kittens. Being a firefighter is a much better job anyways.
Sorry I am bias I work for the fire department! LOL!

Your cat will likely forget all about it when he realizes that he would have to give up valuable nap time. Explain that to him.

By the way...WOW I see you are getting very close to level 7. Are you beginning to feel tingly?

Just explain to him that until he stops being a scaredy cat the police will not take him.

perhaps you could try to sway his dreams a lil you could say wow doesnt it look like fun to _____________ like this__________ !!! i would try that first and if it doesnt work (and it might not...i have two very persistant cats that want to be helicopter pilots that wont fall for it ) youll just have to tell him how it is i guess i hope you dont have to break his heart like i did it was a really hard thing to do. good luck!
