I have been seeing this guy for some time and I do a lot for him because he doesn't have alot of g's. He's trying to open a restaurant. But when he showed up with no present, card or anything, I was pissed. I'm not materialistic, I just wanted some recognition from him. Then he wanted us to go out with his friends but that meant driving way downtown and both of us were drinking. I said no, went home and haven't heard from him since. This was last night. Didn't lose any sleep over it though.

Sounds like you did lose sleep over it...You know the relationship is over...He's been using you and apparently doesn't respect or care for you in the least bit since he neglected to get you a gift or even a card for your b-day and would rather spend time with his guy friends than you. You have every right to be pissed and it isn't materialistic for you to have expected him to do something...if he loves you, he would have!...Move on to bigger and better things...Lose the Zero...Fare Thee Well

I suggest that you be careful on spending money on him and expecting something in return. The more you do for him, the more he will depend on that.

Sure he may be trying to open a restaurant, but on who's money? Can he get loans to help himself with this? Are you involved in the restaurant business, and if so, how much of a percentage is he willing to share with you? You need to ask him these questions before you invest any more money in the business that you may not be involved in.

Also, he needs to be open to other financial options besides you. He has to depend on himself to get things done that he wants done. If he gets upset because you're not willing to help him as freely as he wants, then he's doing nothing but using you.

Keep your eyes open and use your head.....not your heart!

First thing I know from experience is you don't screw with your girl's birthday day. Not having any money is one thing, but no money for a card? Here's an idea, since he is trying to open a restaurant: Bake a Cake. I'd start interviewing for a replacement.

WHOA! I would dump him right on spot. He sound like he take you for guarantee which is a very bad thing. He should really appericate you. I would try everything in my power to make a girl's birthday as great as possible if she do so much for me.

i buy things out of obligation...but the best present from someone to me would be an agreement to not exchange gifts.children should receive gifts not adults.
