I think this would depend on the situation. If telling him would cause him suffering, then you should not tell him. If telling him would alleviate him suffering then, you should tell him and ask for forgiveness.

Once the Holy Spirit convicts you in an area where you have sinned against someone to go to that person and ask for forgiveness, then do.

If the Holy Spirit tells you to ask God to forgive you & to God to fix any possible damage done to your bro. then it would be better to let God fix it. Sometimes it is best others don't know what we did if they don't know. But they may subconsciously know something. Or others may know something. So you should tell those who know something that you were wrong in what you did.

Not if it will harm him or others in doing so.

Asking forgiveness is a selfish act, if you have wronged someone it is up to them to forgive you, you have no right to request it from them.

Learn from this experience, and don't do it again. If you need to restore the balance, do a kind act anonymously.
