It seems there is a pattern - I ask a question about the Bible, apparently its an embarrasing verse, like about slavery, and I am told my comments are stupid, or that I am ignorant.

Why is that?

Christians, when you call someone stupid, does that increase the likelihood of a conversion?

They need to learn what logic is. They can come back when they do. In other words, never.

Because many of us (Christians) have a hard time dealing with those questions.
Slavery of biblical times was entirely different than the slavery that the US practiced for 400 or so years.
Slavery then had VERY strict regulations - to including at what point your slave must be freed.

I will answer what I can, but am not Theologin - so there is some that I cannot answer. I will have to go and look for your slavery question...

I don't believe I've ever said anyone is stupid. I have, however, commented that people were ignorant. Ignorance is a choice, evading discussable evidence or knowledge simply on desire or belief. I have and always will state that Christianity is an 'intelligent belief', and I stand ready to respond to intelligent questions. But a question, no matter how 'intelligent' it may be, which is phrased and poised for the obvious purpose of inflaming or attacking, is by it's own structure 'ignorant', because it predisposes any response to be emotional rather intelligent.

Why do you ask stupid or ignoarant questions in the Yahoo Answers religious section?

It seems you have a patttern. You ask stupid/ignorant questions about God's Word, and then you act like the people who answer are the offenders, when the true offender is you.

Physician, heal thyself.

There's nothing wrong with telling someone they're ignorant as long as you inform them of the knowledge they lack.

As for stupid, people who would consider themselves forgiving, loving, and/or repentant should not be saying such things. Even if your questions may be offensive to them, they are not obligated to read or answer them, and should certainly answer appropriately if they choose to.

I would add that when someone calls someone else stupid it will certainly stir things up and cause a commotion, regardless of who casts such slurs.

easy question, the answer, EGO.
Anyway, I am curious, when you ask your questions are you really interested in getting an answer or are you interested in arguing a point or are you look for reasons to validate you position. If it is the last one, validating your position, then you don't know what that position is. My reasoning for that last statement is that if you know your position it wouldn't need validating.
So, if I am wrong and you are interested in knowing why... Then there are a great many number of other scared texts to read from.

First of all, please don't assume that all of the ones in here are Christians. If they are, I apologize. None of us are perfect, and if some of us just aren't always polite. I'm sorry about the ones who did that.

I don't think you're dumb or stupid at all. It's good that you are asking questions, though, and I'll try to answer what I can. :)

Sometimes they got too engrossed and the devil fans the fire for both you and that person, making you cross enough to make this post, and making them cross enough to answer with another comment to make u angry.

the devil can make even the righteous fall when we're not careful! self-conceit, pride, quarrels, anger, christians pls be careful about dealing with non-christians, lest you let anger cause u to sin.

I don't know why other than you are an Atheist I think. That still is not a reason to do that but, what I think is worse are the people who do that to their fellow Christians. Wow! We are such jerks huh?

If you ask a legitimate question, (not an insulting one), then I don't know why others are doing that. Perhaps taking it the wrong way?
