Ive heard that its because guys hands are too big to work properly in a person's mouth.

A guys hands have nothing to do with if they'll be a good Hygienist or not. Thats crazy! Otherwise, there wouldnt be many guy dentist. Both fields have to have their hands in the mouth to do their job.
Fact is, its just not seen often if at all. But it doesnt mean they cant do it, just as well as a Female. It's just like a 'male nurse'.. A nurses job was just more dominating with females. It didnt mean they couldnt do it. The men just didnt have interest in doing it. Same goes for Dentistry jobs... The doctors were more male dominated. But now theres just as many female dentist as there are males anymore. Females have just gotten more interested in the field is all. Same for Hygienist and dental assistants... It s a great paying job with great benefits... Guys are taking more notice of the jobs nowadays. I've never seen a guy hygienist.. doesnt mean there isnt any though. Never seen guy Assistants either until acouple years ago... the Military had loads of them in training. Very odd, seeing this... but, it was kinda cool. More power to them.......
Are you thinking about becoming an Hygienist? Go for it, if you are.. its a great job if you can handle the disgusting hygiene habits that some people have. LOL... It gets very nasty! hahaha

And why do you suppose that guys whose hands are too big to be hygienists decide to become dentists? Sorry, but this logic is simply not true.
Guys would make perfectly fine dental hygienists and they'd make good money doing it also. The problem is, the role of dental hygienist is so frequently played by females, that there may be some hesitation on the part of guys to do this kind of work. This is similar to the way guys don't often decide to become nurses.
Oddly enough, I was a licensed dental hygienist for the last two years of dental school It was weird, because virtually everyone I saw assumed that I was a dentist. They called me "doctor" all the time. I explained this to everyone - for about a week. After that, I gave up and let them think what they wanted to think. It took too much time out of the day every day to explain how I got my hygiene license as a student and all that.

I have not heard of this at all. I am a hygienist, am female, and I have huge hands. I do just fine.

lol All adult males are distinctive. you won't be able to stereotype all adult males like this. If a guy does not like a woman because of the fact of what she eats then he's somewhat shallow and not properly worth a while anyhow. bear in suggestions, there are vegetarian adult males obtainable too. additionally, sturdy job battling for Animals rights. I volunteer at Animal Shelters and am a member of ASPCA. continuously effective to work out somebody else who cares too :D
