We have a 5-6 month old kitten and my husband is planning to get another puppy of a small breed like pomerinian so that "our kitty will have playmate". We also have a medium sized puppy but he's outdoors. Our kitty is soo spoiled and Im worried that he'll be jealous and fight with the little puppy. I want to know if in the long run, the puppy and kitty will be fine together, considering they have the same size. (Btw, our kitty is okay with the bigger dog.)

Funny, we ended up getting another tabby kitten and 2 pom / chi mix puppies. We'll get them tomorrow and will update you what happens to them. (fyi, We got them at craigslist.)

Do Not have her declawed unless the kitten beats up the dog or becomes a serious problem. I have a cat that thinks he's a dog and a dog that thinks he's a cat because they grew up together and have only each other as playmates and are perfectly happy. Try them out and see what happens before doing anything drastic. Good Luck

There shouldn't be a problem. If the kitten ends up hurting the puppy, then put the puppy outside (given the puppy is at least 6 months old). I really doubt that the older dog would be hostile towards the new pup, unless the older one is territorial, in which case you shouldn't get the pup at all.

Hi, In my personal experience it is good, to have both, most animals come to an understanding between themselves naturally. They will play and when, or if it gets rough, they back off, even animals have personal space!. Once they get their own ground rules sorted. they should be o.k. I have three dogs six cats, I live on a small farm, all of our animals were misfits and have 'bonded' because we put them in together, the dogs and cats all understand one another now and we haven't had any real problems with any of them. :0) My donkey, sheep and goats are all good together now as well. Don't worry so much.

I am sure if you get another puppy every thing will work out just fine between the puppy and kitten. Now would be the time to get another pet because animals adjust easier when they are young. Don't wait too long to make your decision.

If you get a puppy, they will more than likely fight at first. The kitten might think that the puppy is in its territory (its home) The earlier you get the puppy and kitten together the more likely that the two will get attached to each other. They will grow to like each other and will eventually get over the whole "your in my space" deal.

It wont harm if a dogs accidently gets some bites of cat nutrition, or vice versa. the greater severe that could desire to ensue could be an upset tummy. they could desire to the two be eating their very own formulated diets. Kitten nutrition has the quantity of proteins, supplements and minerals that kittens desire. Its too extreme in protein for doggies, too wealthy in some food, and lacking different food that doggies desire. comparable for the domestic dog chow.. for a kitten its too low in protien and lacks fairly some the food a kitten needs. in the event that they eat the incorrect nutrition generally, they could go through issues from wrong weight loss software. no longer something incorrect with the person cats getting kitten nutrition.. different than that it does have greater fat and energy than an person cat needs.. ok in the adventure that your adults are on the thin area and function a extreme metabolism, yet save an eye fixed on the person, they are in a position to placed on weight eating kitten nutrition!

If your hubby does this pretty soon and you watch they together for awhile, they will be OK, Have a cat and a Pom and they play together all the time. Of course its mostly chase. The cat never goes outside and the Pom only to do her duty. Also they are both the same sex.

your cat doesn't need a playmate. kitties are loners. he would just end up beating up a small dog! :)
