my father and i don't have the best relationship . i have tried to get closer to him on several occasions but he always comes up with an excuse to not see me or call do I keep trying or let it go ??

As hard as it is, the truth is, it isn't your responsibilty. Your dad should be making the effort to see you!! Sometimes parents don't get it! It is not your fault, and I am sure that he loves you, but sometimes parents are too selfish to love the way they should.
You should call him one more time. Tell him that you love him very much, and would love to spend time with him, BUT you are leaving it up to him. Then, hang up the phone and see what happens. If he doesn't make any effort after that, then at least you know you tried, and he knows you love him. Good luck!

Maybe you should give it some time apart from trying. You could try this: keep a dream journal for a few months. Just keep a notebook by your bed and jot down what you remember when you wake up, especially the feeling that went with the dream. You will find that you are working things out in your subconscious, and in a few months, you may have found a different approach to your father.

never let it go. u get parents just once in a lifetime. parents are great.
well... let me telll you something, why don't you just go and be with him without informing him. give him a surprise. and more important try to be with him at the times u think that he needs somebody, specially when he might be feeling low and try to cheer him up. let him feel u love.
may be when u wanted to be with him ,was not good time for him. u also understand that right. u try to avoid it when someone tries to be with you, specially when u are not in mood. you na' ta mean.
so try to approach little bit diffrent. u will do it.

If you tried that many times then just forget him like he has forgotten you.It's his loss and in the long run he will be sorry one day. Don't push it any more, maybe he will come to his senses and think about it and come back on his own, if not then so be it, no great loss on your part.

Let him go, he has issues and can't handle being a dad. Sad but there are times when kids are better off without their parents.

You stay close to your father because one day in his life he will realize that someone is caring about him.That would make him want to know more about his daughter

tell him how u feel and that ur sick of his bull crap and he needs to grow up and u need him cuz ur his daughter so he needs to get over his self and acept that he has responsibilties
