Try http://www.openoffice.org/

As previously advised you need to buy a legal copy of MS Office for word and excel. Please do not use a downloaded version, you will only cause yourself and your computer many problems.

Lemme guess, you're in a Computer Literacy class... maybe with the Art Institute??? Because whats funny is that's the EXACT question of this weeks first assignment. weird. "Week 3: Week 3 - W3: Assignment 1 Discussion Discussion Question 3 Compare Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. When should you use each of these applications? When can you use these applications interchangeably? Give examples and reasons to support your answer."

Sorry, no free-bee

You can either
1) Get the 60-day free trial.
2) Download the Microsoft Office 2007 beta test (Expires around Feb 07 - may have now extended)
3) Use OpenOffice or Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.

If you work full time for higher education (universities) then you are entitled to install Microsoft Office on your home computer (its the Select Agreement). Do not install it on any friends or neighbours computer as this invalidates the license.

If you are student you can get a student version for £100.00

If you work for a large corporate organisation, they may have an agreement with MS to install MS Office at home.

If anyone offers you a free or heavly discounted version of MS Office it is probably pirated. MS now have checks on all their software such that when you try to update you get a nice friendly warning message.

There is a computer training centre called Learn Direct in most towns where you can go in and learn all computer things like word and excel for free. It is open all day and evening and you choose when you go and how often.

"Legally" you CAN'T get it free from anywhere. You could use a trial version for 60 days according to Microsoft's website, (if the link is still up)
