I was wondering if any one had ever had experience with a drug addicted dog? I have a dachsund that will do anything to get to the mushrooms in a cow pasture. We've recently moved away from the cows and it seems as though this little guy is going through withdrawal!

Well, Sam is back from the vet now. The vet said he was definitely eating the psychedelic mushrooms that were growing in the cow pasture and that it could take a while for him to get back to normal. The vet also said that he's seen this happen with herding dogs before but never a doxie. He also said that this could affect Sam for the rest of his life. Thank goodness we moved closer to town.

Seen lap dogs addicted to ciggerette smoke by continually lapping the smoke up I guess anything addicting if they have it long enuff but shrooms one crazy mutt.

To over-simplify it the canines is in simple terms educated to come back across a particular fragrance and rewarded for the perfect reaction. they do no longer develop into addicted because the substance is neither ingested or inhaled because that's continually interior some thing, therefore the search.

I'm sure canines can get addicted to drugs as ppl.
Call a vet on it.

a) mushrooms arent drugs.
b) maybe your dog just loves mushrooms
c) take it to the vet

I have a mini dachshund and he is not addicited to drugs. He is clean and sober.

thats not drug addiction.....if you want him to be drug addicted..... put alcohol in his water dish
