Ok. Most of you criticize a religion and its laws, mostly unjustly interpretated and enforced, and attack the guy holding the book. WELL, I have a general question.
God, as qouted in the bible, is the source of 'good'. It says that all that beleive in Him, will live in that place He is that is full of goodness and happiness. WHAT happens when he removes Himself completely from where you are. A total lack of anything that can be considered good. A smile, a cool drink, friendship, etc... Can this be called Hell? (see book for lots of descriptions, they seem to fit) Can I conclude that Hell is a total lack of the presence of God? If so, is it His fault when God says to me 'I am going over there, come with if you choose to", and I linger around too long and am stuck, left behind....[puhleeze do not bring up those books :) ]. You see, I do not disagree with all of you who beleive religion is bad. Because religion (look the word up) was/is enforced by alot of bad people. Research is key

I just disagree with with suffering. If Christ is the key, I am ok. If science is the key, in its atheistic form, I am still ok. If being truthful, forgiving, nonviolent, accepting, and there some other god who punishes for not following all the right rules, well, I guess that would be a really exclusive club and I couldn't get there anyways. Just don't confuse punishment doled out by religious leaders with all this. Their abuses (read history.....christian/catholic declaring wars, selling indulgences, poep's role bought with money, favor. Islamic leaders, declaring war, buying and selling with those they war with...while having scotch and women .....not to defame them, but their rules don't apply to them. THAT is the prob. We all should have 1 set of rules. You pick. I did, and I know it is right. OK.....DAGGERs AWAY!

Don't confuse me with religion. Religion is a man-made concept and nothing to do with me. You're right on the whole absense of God, however I can never be totally absent so there is always "Choice". And even if you choose not to decide, then that that is as it ever was .... your choice.

God's presence is everywhere, omni.
He doesnt remove Himself from us, in fact even in captivity His intentions were made known to us Jeremiah 29:11, that he loves us and wants us to prosper and have a future. He sent Jesus for us (read the chapter of John)

Indeed it is your fault if you choose to linger around any longer once youve known that He is real. If you dont believe, then you're not lingering on ur own will, then your question doesnt stand.

Lastly, religion is bad, God isnt. He is not a religion, He is the truth, the life and the way. But because worldly-wise people think that its a religion, and because we're in this world yet not of this world, we have to communicate with them in this way, a religion to them if they ask.

Does that help u?

Promising reward or punishment for actions will cause people to act in ways they would otherwise not. In other words it hinders the learning process. If i am told by an individual, religion, god to act a certain way for reward or punishment I might do as I am told but deep in my heart will it be sincere? So therefore I believe god does not punish or reward, he lets us learn and eventually reach a state of mind where we will embrace his virtues not because of fear or an expectation of a reward, but because we know its right.

Hell is the consequence of not following God's will. It is not God that punishes. There is no punishment, only consequences.

Hell is a fictitious place.
Consequence is punishment for sin, or reward for virtue, however you live your life.
God is present in nature, and is all things, good and bad.

Unless you don't believe in God. Then, he can have no effect on you. X)
