I'm not sure what you are asking about!
but if you mean as part of medical examination then in the examination of an infant when you put your finger in his palm he will grasp it as part of primitive reflex called (grasp reflex)...sometimes it is done for adults in cases they are suspecting deterioration of the mental function....
