I think it's because at that age they're trying to find themselves. I know when I was that age my parents and grandparents were always giving me unwanted advice. They treated me like I didn't know anything. I think teenagers need a little more idependence at that stage in life. Let them figure out more thing for themselves, but on the big things (school and work) help them out a little because that's the stuff they really need the advice with.

They are trying to gain some independence and do not realize the importance of family. A lot of this aged kids think they have all the answers to all the world problems and that others, older family members, are full of beans. I have three sons myself and all are now over 21 (thank God) and are now getting more in touch with family values etc. It hurts both parents and grandparents to think that these family members don't really want a lot to do with them at present. But most realize that this will pass, and look back at their own youth and realize they did a lot of the same things when younger.

Because after 13 you realize that you know more than your parents, they are a bunch of ignorants that whose only purpose in life is to stop your progress in life, they can't understand why you have the right to party, drink alcohol, have sex, and the school is not necessary, you already know all there is to learn, and they have the duty of providing a roof over your head, feed you, give you money, clothes, whatever you want, it is a privilege for them to have you around, how can't they understand??? they just jap, jap, and jap all day long, I hope I has answer the question
