Wisdom is the ability to pick the grain of truth out of a bucketfull of untruth. I apologize, but to answer this, I have to use my "prophet's voice."
All in the world is mixed. No thing that you can see or touch or hold in your hand or hold in your mind is a pure and unmixed thing. A wise person has the ability to refine. A wise person knows that every bit of good has been refined out of a mixture of good and bad, whether the mixture is a vein of gold or a human spirit. Wisdom is knowing that not all of the bad can be refined away from the good that we seek and that we often must accept some bad to have any good. Wisdom is the ability to think before acting instinctively and the ability to recognize the rightness of instincts, but not to act upon them without thought. Wisdom is the highest and best phase of a lifetime of learning. Do not be in a hurry to call yourself wise. Look at me. I know many things and I do not call myself wise. I have no right. I never will. Wise is a description that can only be applied by others and others never want to give such high praise- not until the object of their praise has died.
All you can do is to try your best to see truth in reality and not let opinion cloud your vision, whether it is the opinions of others or your own. In fact, your ability to see the truth is at greater risk from your own opinions than from the opinions of others. If your mind gets too full, then declare EVERYTHING to be unreal and watch for what comes back. The things that continually come back after you have continually declared them unreal have a pretty good chance of being real.
I hope this helps.

Wisdom is having the ability to understand. It's an understanding of oneself as well as others. To acquire it is a life long path that requires you to know the difference between making a judgment and being judgmental. Let experience to be your teacher.

IMHO, the only wisdom that is important is the true knowledge of one's self. If you know exactly who you are, and hold true to what you believe, without being swayed by others, then you have all the wisdom you need. I'm not a stupid person, though I don't hold a degree, but I know who I am. That is the basis for all my choices, decisions, and how I live my life. I can't say how to aquire it, the process is different for everyone. But in my case, I spent a lot of time alone and really searched myself through writing, journalling, and just being me.

In my opinion wisdom isn't some old person who has been through a lot and tells stories, but its when someone has a quality about themselves and are intellectual about the world and aren't close minded or has hatred toward what they are afraid of or don't know its a person who values life and what it and people have to offer.

A person who has gained the wisdom knows two things deep in his heart:

1-Self is an illusion
2- Everything occurs spontaneously

some things about wisdom I have observed. Some would not recognize it if you hit them over the head with it.
Unless you can teach it then it will die with you.
can be attained through trial and if trial and error is the method then often more than one trial.
Can be attained through a gestalt process.
In the end bears out to be true.
If passed down from parent to child will make a prosperous family.
Is often refuted with with bad breath and a big stick.
Breeds contempt from the mentally, challenged.
Can get you killed if your not careful.
can be easily obtained by those with the gift of prophesy.
Can be the cause of lonelyness in a new place.
Often stands in the way of profit.
Is not fashionable.
Instead is long lasting often plain and has no label, and goes with anything
Goes to bed now or much earlier

Wisdom is gained by learning from our life experiences, good or bad, one will become more wise especially once they have learned a valuable lesson, but having said that...i believe that true wisdom comes through religion despite what those who do not believe it say, but it most certainly does come from religion, once we know God, we also know ourselves, and getting to know thyself is something we all need to do, being able to have a deeper understanding within ourselves is the way forward towards wisdom, "A wise man is good, but a good man is not always wise".

wisdom comes from knowing the creator of wisdom thats jesus christ but the problem is god wisdom is foolishness 2 he who doesnt know or belive in him.all i have 2 say is our wisdom cant gives eternal life and we will die soon its not a mabye we must live for the life to come and not the here and now like the world lives they always planning 4 2morrow but 2morrow is not garantee. and if anyone believes that theres no god and no hell they better be 100% shore because if your 99%shore that 1% will be your your eternal destiny in hell where time is no more and theres no second chances you make your choice here and now

If i tell you to buy a stock and it goes up, i might be considered wise, you made money on the deal

if the same stock goes belly up, youd say the adviser is not wise

i guess we can't predict the future

is it then the ability to empathize

perhaps wisdom is summed up best as, inferior is the master who is not surpassed by his student
