Rent a Steam Cleaner from your local Super Market. The steam will loosen the Fleas and the power of the vacuum will suction them out of the carpet. Since the Steam Cleaner is not yours you don't have to worry about Cleaning out the filter after you use it. The company that supplies those Cleaning machines to the Super Markets takes care of the maintenance.

If you have fleas in your carpet, I will assume you have pets. You will need to be careful what you use. Some of the things that will kill the fleas, will also kill your pets. There is a spray that you can buy that will kill the fleas if used according to the directions, but won't harm your pets. Using the spray in combination with frequent vacuuming usually takes care of a mild infestation. If you have a severe infestation, you will need to bomb the area of your home that has the fleas. It is not a fun thing to have to do, but may be necessary. You need to remove all the people and pets, carefully cover fish tanks and put out any pilot lights that are lit. After several hours, you need to come back - with out pets - to clean. All the surfaces need to be vacuumed, dusted, or wiped down. Any food preparation areas need to be thoroughly cleaned. Once your pet has been treated, and things have been cleaned, you can bring your pet back into your home.

Yes, it is a pain - been there, done that. Good luck!

It sort of depends on what kind of pet your letting in and out of the house. There is no permanent solution to fleas. They get onto the animals and ride. They also cling to people who love the country life.
Borax is good if used every week, so are many of the over the counter flea sprays. Even ordinary carpet cleaners with a vacuum by-weekly will do a good job, but get rid of the bag every time you finish or the bag will breed new fleas. Using the machine doesn't kill them, just collects them in one place to breed.

If you have fleas in the carpet, you have fleas everywhere. Use a flea defogger for that. Just make sure all pets and humans are out of the house or apt. for at least 2 to 3 hours.

Do a bug bomb specially made to get rid of fleas. You can get them at the grocery store. You'll need to remove your pets and yourself for several hours, but this should work.

You'll have to flee bomb your house to get them out of your carpets. It's easy to do, but you, your family, and your pets will have to steer clear of home for a couple of hours. It's fairly inexpensive (usually around $15) and should be able to get it at : Walmart, Target, Petsmart, and most grocery stores.

I found a product that worked in two applications. Zodiac Fleetrol, they sell it in a spray and in a pump at pet stores. It really worked fast. Flea bombs and sprays from grocery stores don't work. Good luck.

in case you purchase the extra helpful (definite extra costly) manufacturers of this way of flea drugs it tells you to no longer enable them to lick for a short quantity of time. you may even have somebody carry the cat, area the hair on the back area of the neck basically above the shoulder blade (the place the cat would be unable to attain) and placed the liquid on the floor. Then basically stop the cat from attempting to lick for a jiffy till it has time to soak into the floor.
