Here is the thing. She isn't my TRUE mother-in-law she is my husbands dads girlfriend. She is not uncapable of doing anything. She only does something if i take her to dinner. She over-disciplines my 1 yr old son. and has not even so much as to buy a role of toilet paper. HELP!

There not a thing you can do to 'motivate' the old bag. Motivation comes from within!

She is in a position where her relation to you through the marriage gives her the supposed right to lounge about and let the others take the responsibility of the household. It is your house and you have the right to demand respect and consideration. Talk to your spouse and air out your concerns. Both of you must come to agreeable terms since she is the bloodline of your spouse. Be assertive not aggressive but do get your point across or suffer indescribable sorrows in the near to long term future.

I wish you the best.

Kick her butt out! I don't know how you're doing it! I would've lost it on day one sweetie! There's no reason for adult parents to be living with their children, except in special circumstances. Give her a week or two to find somewhere else to live and say goodbye. What a ridiculous woman!

Stop helping her!!! Don't bring stuff to her, she will get motivated.

Find out what the laws are for evisction in your state. In oregon if a person has lived in your home more than two weeks they are considered a tenent and you have to evict them.

Kick her out to the curb. What kind of moocher is that? Its not your job to take care of her unless shes incapacitated. You've got your own parwents and maybe your own kids to worry about. Get rid of her...or at least threaten to and mean it, get her off her butt.

DEPENDS OF HER AGE AND HEALTH.
IF SHE IS HEALTHY WHEN YOU DO SOME CHORES TELL HER TO CHOOSE WHAT TO DO AND MAKE A LIST

TELL YOUR HUBBY TO HELP 2 SO THERE WILL BE TEAMS WORK

IF THAT DOES NOT WORK HUBBY MUST TALK 2 HER AND TELL HER WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOU FAMILY . AND THAT THERE ARE RULES TO FOLLOW

OR

OFFER HER AN APARTMENT AND HELP HER MOVE KINDLY

She's not your mother so you shouldn't be the one to motivate her....this is your husbands problem.

Talk to him and let him know your concerns and then he should talk to his mother.

Do'nt cook for her, don't do her laundry, don't clean her area of the house... when she's hungry and out of underwear, she'll get up off her butt and take care of herself.

Why is she living with you? This is really too weird. What does your husband say? Y'all need more boundaries.

Have your husband speak to his mother.
