Because he felt he wasn't good enough to be crucified the same way as our Lord. I do not think they deserve even the upside down cross

Peter didn't feel he was worthy of dying in the same fashion as his/our Lord and Savior.Satan is the total opposite of Jesus.Jesus gives life.Satan gives death.Jesus is good, while satan is evil.Jesus brings truth, while satan brings treachery and deceit.Jesus offers eternal life in Heaven, while satan offers eternal damnation in hell.It is only logical that while Jesus was crucified upright on the cross, that satan and his followers would make it a disrespectful gesture towards Jesus and His followers to turn it upside down. Satan feels he has to "up one" on God every chance he gets, but he knows he's already been defeated, and he has only a short time to grab as many souls as he can.

I don't know, I heard something about Satanists consider themselves the exact opposite of Christianity, so the upside down cross is another way of showing that.

Hello;

You partially answered your own question. Everything Satan does is the absolute negative and reverse of God, The Supreme Being. Turning the cross upside down is to mock Jesus's death. The cross was the instrument used so that the Redemption of mankind could be accomplished. Yours and mine!
The life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Smashed all of Satan's plans. It gave us our salvation!
Satan exists, he is not a myth. Look around the world and see how he works. He gets in the minds and hearts of the unsaved.
And causes them to do horrible things.
Satan is very busy in the affairs of the world. Here is a small part of what the Bible says about him.
"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
And the Lord said unto Satan,Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." Job:1,6,7.
At one time Satan was called Lucifer meaning light bearer. He was the highest created being. The word Satan means "tempter"or "resister" and "accuser".
Every time we sin, Satan goes before the throne of God, and demands our souls! If we did not have Jesus as our Advocate in heaven. Our souls would be delivered to Satan.
Satan is dangerous, he has many traps set for us. Such as illegal drugs, pornography, lying, stealing, and hundreds of others.
The use and production of illegal drugs, is actually a form of witchcraft. That is one of the things that God calls an abomination. That is a one way road to hell if you do that.
To save yourself from Satan and sin. You must (1) acknowledge Jesus before men.(2)confess your sins to God.(3) repent(4) be baptized by immerson. (5) Get into a Bible believeing Church.
Satan is now a defeated foe by the Blood of Jesus. Give attention to your daily life. Thank God for everything you have!
Remember this passage from Scripture. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but the Spirit." Romans 8:1.
Hope this helps you understand how important the cross was.
Time is growing short, repent while you still can.
If you wait too long, and Jesus returns as He said. It will be TOO LATE!

actually the symbol of satanists is a pentagram, not a cross in any shape or form, and the pentagram is usually less noticeable, so as not to offend people who are ignorant of what satnism really is--the upside down cross is for hollywood and stupid teenagers

ask a satanist why they choose the things that they do. seeing as they are the only religion I am aware of who chose a character from another religion and accept most all things of that character yet deny the source religion's deity

The stanists like to turn the cross upside down and break the two arms down into the peace symbol. Don't know why, but they do it.

Why worry about what Satanists do?

Life is short full of tears & dissappointments for everyone, no matter what beliefs they hold at the moment.

Everyone suffers.

Live & let live.

Because most people aren't aware of that fact, and it makes for good shock value. (Satanists are actually really fun, non-Satan worshipping people. They're usually quite into shock value, though.)

It is a teenage rebellion thing mostly.

I wear a inverted cross to show my unhappiness with religion. I am not a satanist.
