We were dating for 4 years before we got engaged.
Our engagement was 10 months...so when we got married we were together for almost 5 years.

I think if you both are ready, there is no such thng as too fast. My husband told me he wanted to marry me after being together for 1 month. I believe if we married then, we would still be together. But I am definitely a firm believer in living together before getting married. You really get to know someone this way!!

Knew each other since elementary school. Together for 7 years before we married. Married ten years this August.

Some people get married too fast - but usually you don't know it until you have the benefit of hindsight. Some 'quick' weddings lead to marriages that last a lifetime though. So, do what feels best - and right - for you!

We met when I was 18 at a wedding of a friend. Started dating 3 months later I moved in one month after that. 8 years later we started to think about having a family. So we got married then. Got knocked up a month after the wedding. We now have a vary smart monkey boy who at 1year can allready open most doors. Been married 2 years in september.

The only ones that can really answer that question is the couple involved. My fiance and I have been together for a year and will be married in 2008. My supervisor told me a story the other day that her husband proposed the day they met and then they were married 11 days later. They have now been married 32 years and still very in love!

Knew him three years, dated for three. He asked me in November, and we were married the end of July.
Of course, there is such a thing as getting engaged or married too quickly. You need time (at least a year - think of it as going through all the seasons and all of the holidays) to get to know each other, and your families.

We dated for 2-3 years and then planned our wedding over the span of 2 years. So we knew each other for for about 5 years before we walked down the aisle.
My only advice is that you do not let a wedding put you in debt. Our biggest present to ourselves was to be debt free after the wedding by not overspending on the wedding. We were able to buy a even larger home because of this.

Knew him 20 years, dated 1year got engaged and married the following year. We never lived together until we married though. It was more special to come home from the honeymoon a newly married couple and not just home where we always lived.
