I own several Glocks. There is a lot of metal in them. Springs, levers, rods and such. A bunch more than the belt buckle that I have to take off to get through the metal detector at out local courthouse. They have a polymer frame, but even that has a metal skeleton moulded inside that. The ceramic Glock was probably born out of the same myth. Ceramic is too brittle to absorb the recoil of even the smallest round that Glock handles (.380 very rare)

Urban Myth. Also, there is no ceramics either. The bullets you ask.... well they are made with brass or aluminum cases, lead and copper or brass jacketed bullets - iron based metals set off detectors better. They will pick up these other metals, just not as strongly. The barrel, slide, and most moving parts of a Glock are metal. The rest is a polymer. Glocks were called the "Plastic Gun" when first intrduced. Any handgun sold in the U.S. has to have a certain percentage of its material make up in metal - so that it will set off detectors. Glock has a model in .380 that cannot be legally sold in the U.S. since it's ratio of metal to plastic is too low.

If you try to carry a Glock pistol through a metal detector the metal detector will sound it's alarm. Period. The Glock pistol is made of 34 or 35 parts depending on the model. Many of these parts are metal, the most substantial metal part being the slide.

Frame, some internals and magazines are plastic. Barrel, Slide, Springs and pins are metal (steel). There is no "Ceramic" other than the proprietary finish on the slide which may use a ceramic type coating to achieve its hardness.
If the metal detector at the airport goes of with my brass belt buckle, you can pretty much guarantee getting snagged with any other modern weapon. You need steel for springs, period.
This garbage was pure media hype-tripe. Just like .50 calibers in the hands of terrorists, cop killer bullets, and gangs armed with evil black assault weapons that they legally bought at gun shops and gun shows.....

But the bullets and inner working mechanisms are metal, so Glocks do show up on even a moderately powerful metal detector.

The frame is plastic, but the barrel, receiver, etc. are steel, so this pistol will show up to a metal detector. No one has been able to make a 100% plastic or ceramic pistol yet. High tech ceramics, e.g. titanium carbide or zircon oxide, present formidable problems in making gun barrels.

But the bullets are metal, the slide is metal, so are the springs. It's not going to get through a metal detector

Parts of glocks can be detected by metal detectors. Such as the barrel firing pin and the magazine.

No. There are too many metal parts like slide, springs, firing pin, barrel so it will show up. Die Hard 2 was a crock of sh it when Bruce Willis made that statement about Glocks being made out of porcelain and undetectable.
